Trying to find the best affiliate program online is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack. For one thing, you have to be clear about what the term "best" means to you.

For example, some people think the best program offers the highest commissions. Others feel product variety is most important. Still others want a program that has the potential of exposing their product to thousands of eager affiliates.

Let me share with you a few ways to track down the best program available...

First, the program should have a documented history of reliably servicing members. Some of the long-running affiliate networks include: Commission Junction, Linkshare and Clickbank to name a few. 

Second, any affiliate network you join should offer the opportunity for affiliates to promote the best-selling type of online product. In case you don't know what that is, it's information. Which makes sense when you consider that people go online to find info on all sorts of topics. They also buy e-books, audio e-books, videos, etc. 

Third, you should be able to promote your product to a huge and established base of potential affiliate partners. Obviously, this only applies to those who have a product. But even it you don't you might eventually.

So it's a good idea to get involved with a program that offers product owners and promoters opportunity to expand and grow.  

Fourth, in my book, if there was a "best" program it would include medium and high-priced products allowing me to maximize my commissions. In addition, it would also allow product owners to up-sell and down-sell new customers... and... pay me on those sales too.

Finally, the best internet affiliate program would include some marketing tutorials to help me drive traffic, convert prospects to customers and grow my business.

Some of these elements are present in some affiliate programs.

If I were asked to pick a best, I would probably go with Clickbank. It seems to have all the features of a robust, well-maintained and reliable program with few drawbacks.
